christmas vacation

Winter break is often a busy season for us, filled with travel and family, the hustle and bustle of packing bags and shipping gifts.  This year, we spent much of our time at home, just us.  It's always felt like a blessing to have such long breaks from work obligations at Christmas, but the slowness of this one, this year, was so very needed.

We watched all the movies we'd been meaning to see, tried a new restaurant for tacos and a pitcher of margaritas, ordered in our favorite pizza from the corner restaurant.  I cooked big batches of winter dinners to freeze, organized crowded closets, finally started catching up on The Crown.  It was a frigid week full of quiet days and cozy evenings, the last few with a twinkling tree in the living room.
