Watermelon and seltzer and telling tales of the past few months, three dips in the ocean, salty eyelashes and hair, big straw hats, watching the fishing boats come in, charcuterie and limeade drinks on the porch as the sun went down, a belated birthday surprise with blueberry cheesecake. In the morning, there was coffee and kombucha in the sunshine, a walk to admire neighborhood gardens and pick up bagels, cats drinking water from the sink -- their morning routine, I'm told. I'm forever feeling grateful for friendships that pull me back to myself when I need it most.
