The beginning of April, as we'll remember it -- sinking into our faded blue couch with the back door open, to catch the breeze and waterfall sounds; star magnolia petals strewn across the driveway; bunches of tulips and a new aloe plant; his tennis matches and endless talks of how to improve a second doubles team; the gift of daylight after 7:00 pm, how he picks up cooking and cleaning when I can't carry the full load of tending to a house because of paper-writing, saturday-working, ennui-feeling, etc.
It's my very favorite time of year -- the cherry blossoms are just about to bloom.
