I have wished for a snow day for weeks and the call finally came, this morning at six o'clock. I took myself to a barre class and scooped up coffee beans on the way home. It's become a new routine of sorts -- me, reading roast dates over the phone as he chose from the selection or barrels.
We drove to morning appointments together and then settled in at home. I sat upstairs to do work, curtains open to view the snow fall, only to be endlessly distracted by the very thought of this room. It's been a comfort to me, at times, to think of what color we might paint it, where a stuffed rabbit might go, what corner has the best light for late afternoon spells in a rocking chair. Its windows are set so that the room sees both sunrise and sunset, and in that way, it's my favorite in the house.
