After church, in the pouring rain, we drove for an hour while listening to This American Life and waited for friends at a pub, with a French press of coffee to share. Later, we drove further north through farmlands and river towns, past thick layers of fog settling atop the Delaware and jacketed horses to visit a winery. We each picked a bottle after tasting several -- white for him, red for me. On our way home, the sun peeked out from behind clouds.
A different sort of Sunday for us -- one with less homework and laundry, and one well spent after a week of tiny disappointments.
weekend bits & pieces
/ cocktails and dinner after work on Friday, a belated celebration of 28
/ a birthday party for our favorite four-year-old
/ a frozen pizza just for me (or, late night grocery store impulse buys)
/ waking up to rain
/ filling our rooms with bunches of bright spray roses
